Job Title: Audio, Visual, Lighting (AVL) Technician 

Reports to: Worship Pastor

Department: Creative Team 

Job Grade: Part Time​

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • To provide technical support for all audio, video, and lighting (AVL) needs during worship services, midweek gatherings, and ministry events. The AVL Technician plays a key role in creating a distraction-free worship environment by operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting AVL systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Operate and oversee AVL systems for:

    • Sunday morning worship services

    • Wednesday night gatherings

    • Other scheduled ministry events as needed

  • Set up, run, and tear down AVL equipment before and after services/events

  • Ensure proper functioning of soundboards, microphones, screens, cameras, and lighting systems

  • Support the live stream setup and monitor audio/video quality during online broadcasts

  • Troubleshoot issues with AVL systems quickly and effectively in real-time

  • Perform regular equipment checks and minor maintenance to prevent technical issues

  • Assist with stage setup and transitions as needed for services

COLLABORATION

  • Work closely with the Worship Pastor, worship leaders, and other ministry leaders to ensure AVL needs are met

  • Provide input on how to improve technical execution to support a consistent and excellent worship experience

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience operating AVL systems in a church or live event setting

  • Working knowledge of sound mixing, video switchers, lighting consoles, and streaming platforms

  • Calm under pressure and quick to troubleshoot problems during live environments

  • Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented

  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of ministry needs

  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Riverside Church
